Palális
Mother of the Earth
A day will come when the wickedness of the people of Helendriel will draw the ire of Palális. May their soil become barren and their shores flooded. Perhaps the earth itself will crack and swallow their cities whole.
Ruler of Riel
Some say that we’ve neglected our duties to the gods and that this drought is a just punishment for our decadence and negligence. A load of nonsense, I say! Sure, perhaps we do like to drink and tumble in the hay a tad too much, but where’s the crime in that? This is not a punishment from Palális, but a challenge! The planet of Riel is all under the governance of Palális. According to the ancient myths of the faith, she was the one who formed the continents, filled the oceans with water, and raised mountains that reached for the clouds. While much of the life in the world itself may have been delegated to her descendants, the Mother of the Earth is still in control of the land and the skies themselves. Because natural disasters fall under her domain, there are some who view her as an unforgiving, but righteous god who smites the unworthy down with floods and earthquakes. There are also many who view the struggles she brings people as challenges that are meant to test the denizens of the world, allowing great men and women to overcome such struggles, proving themselves worthy of Palális’ favour.

Cult of Palális
Followers of the Mother of the Earth are a bit of a strange lot who are fond of challenging themselves in arduous environments in order to test their mettle and glorify their god. Every other year they organise a grand event in which they venture deep into the woods or on dangerous aberati-infested isles to survive there for at least a month. Such challenges often result in several deaths and people worry that they might agitate aberati hives to attack the rest of society. There is no one location or region where those dedicated to Palális are highly concentrated, but people do tend to turn to her when signs of natural disaster present themselves in hopes that their devotion will spare or protect them from calamity.
