12th Session
General Summary
The party goes to the Tenpolis Castle. They are prevented from entering by an officer. Two men come by, mock the officer and let the party through. They meet the rest of the expedition.

They have a wagon and 8 riding horses and 2 draft horses. They go to the docks and get on the longboat chartered by the princess. Ellie gets a chance to talk to Daniel about the Shadow of Heartford Forest and compare notes. In Daniel's experience, the Shadow comes out, taunts him in Ancient, knocks him and his party around for a bit and disappears into the trees. The Shadows also has a nickname for Daniel "Bright Eyes" which seems to be a reference to Daniel's unusually bright blue eyes. The greatest difficulty is finding the Shadow as he's always the one to find them and has yet to be caught in any of their traps. In 9 expeditions to Heartford Forest, they've only captured him once and didn't even see him the 4th and 9th expeditions. If their was a reliable way to get him to come out, then they would have more of a chance of getting him.
The campaign stops for the night and Caspian goes hunting. He gets a boar, but then an ogre comes to claim both him and his kill. Caspian calls for help using the earring and climbs a tree. An ogress comes and Theo, Tasha and Ellie grab a horse and come running. Caspian holds off the ogres until his friends get there and together they kill both of them. They get back to the camp with the boar meat. Alle attempts to flirt with Caspian, but he rolls a nat 1 in insight and has no clue.
separately. She confirmed that the vials of blue liquid found in the Heartford Dungeon is blood and some possible theories on why it's kept. (e.g. as a curiosity, belief that grants powers, possible charming agent) Ellie did get a sense that he was holding something back.
Daniel and Ellie compared more notes on the Shadow. Daniel admits the Shadow has never killed an expedition member, but they've found bodies with wounds in line with those caused by the Shadow. He seriously injured Crimson in the first expedition, but overall seems to just toy with them. The few times Daniel has nicked the Shadow confirms that he does have blue blood and thus is a Cyanhemian. Daniel has no idea why the Shadow would care about books.
Daniel and Ellie also compare linguistical differences with Ancient. They have different accents and vocabularies. Daniel is surprised that it's used in religious rites and didn't even know its name, just calling it "my father's language." One of the stops on the trip will be the Daniel's childhood home to confront his father about this.
TLDR: Party joins the expedition. The first leg of the journey is by boat. They get horses. Caspian is ambushed by 2 ogres while hunting a boar. The party comes to his rescue as he calls for them using his earring. More lore stuff. No one knows the language in the unknown book and no one knows why the Shadow would be interested in books.
