56th Session
General Summary
The party comes up from the Hydra's lairs. They show the town the head, try to explain what happen and reunite some people with heirloom. The idea that the townspeople have forgotten loved ones is disturbing. The party spends another night with the Fairburrows who are contemplating that Willibald remarried and there are smaller beds in their home.
Ellie and Tasha are particularly concerned about Remez's plot to summon and bind the Shadow. They manage to convince Gideon to come with them to help prevent the planned ritual.
They are given a hero's welcome at Heartstone Abbey and tell Father Finnley not to give the Rubenians the sword.
Tyrell has come to be with Skyla. When pressed in private, he admits that Eldred escaped somehow and he's not going to tell Skyla that.
Princess Crimson says that she has to apologize to the Watermen tribe she had been attempting to to get them to return the sword, as they really didn't have it. She expresses interest in the very attractive Gideon.
The party talks to Remez about the dangers of the ritual. He is firm in is belief that even if the ritual goes wrong, nothing bad would come though he has never performed it, or seen it done. Under more pressure, he says that he will talk to just Ellie and Tasha in a very private place.
Once they are in storage room, Remez swears them to secrecy and that they will never even speaks the words aloud. admits that the ritual isn't to summon a nuxrid, but rather a dolthian. Years ago, he came across an account that suggests that Cyanhem are actually dolthians and the ramifications are harrowing. He doesn't actually need a "binding agent" or holy water, just the "blood of the Creator" which he believes is just blue blood. The ritual would prove that Rubenians have actually been hunting dolthains. The binding is a way to delay it.
The return of the sword is celebrated with a feast. Ellie ttempts to contact Hagan the Brave on what she learned. He comes to her in a dream pretty much confirming it that the Shadow is a high ranking Dolthain and that Hagan has no idea what the Shadow is doing. He just has notes. He says that Bammy is a seer.
The next morning, Ellie finds a page from a book. It's a short life sketch of Darius Duncan
