Hugh is a member of the Kai Lords who was formally inducted into the group in MS 5092. He was part of the same incoming class as Dante .
Hugh doesn't care much for Dante's approach to telekinesis. As a practitioner of Telekinesis Discipline , he finds Dante's focus on propelling objects at high speed immature. Hugh enlisted Dante 's help in protecting Tripitika when he realized that Dante was in Durenor . After Hugh was injured, Hugh entrusted Tripitika 's safety to Dante and asked him to escort Trip to Port Bax .
