Saltmarsh City Gate
Remnants of Old Harbor, the Saltmarsh town gate and attached wall is worn from centuries of wind and rain coming off the Cobalt Sea.
Purpose / Function
The gatehouse was originally built by the inhabitants of Old Harbor, the ruined city Saltmarsh is built upon, to protect the town. While it has largely deteriorated over the years, the gatehouse and what remains of the walls still serve to guard the town of Saltmarsh to this day.
Architecture
Contrary to the rest of Saltmarsh, the gatehouse is built of pure rock, as if conjured from the ground itself. Some say Old Harbor used strange magics to construct their great works, and that the gatehouse is but a remnant of one of them.
Defenses
The gatehouse simply houses a couple of guards, usually those too old to maintain patrols. They can fire crossbow bolts or musket fire through the arrow slits in the upper floor of the gate-tower if needed, but primarily watch from the gate itself.
