Saltmarsh Barracks and Jail

From Wizards of the Coast's Ghosts of Saltmarsh
The Saltmarsh barracks, which includes the jail, was constructed on a low hill. Here the Saltmarsh Guard houses many of their men (the rest operate from a smaller barracks on the docks). The attached jail is run by jailer Kraddok Stonehorn

Purpose / Function

The barracks were built near the founding of the town to house the citizen's militia and guard prisoners, and has since evolved into the base of operations for the Saltmarsh Guard. The jail typically is used to hold brawlers and drunks who need to cool off lest they wreak havoc, as well as those serving up to one year in jail for more serious crimes. Those facing longer sentences are transferred to Seaton

Architecture

The building is made of stone in an imposing dwarven style, with perfect geometry and statues of guards worked into it's supports and walls. This follows most early military constructions made in the colonies, as they are extensions of the Emperor's will.

Defenses

Being the main barracks of the guard, this garrison houses many guardsmen, has stables for the horses, and includes a great deal of weaponry and other supplies such as gunpowder.
