Traditionalists
Made up of prominent fishing families and merchants within Saltmarsh, the Traditionalists are a formal alliance - effectively a political party - aligned to return to the status quo of Saltmarsh. They resist the Crown's investments, arguing Saltmarsh has survived for a century as a sleepy fishing town. Traditionalists also fear imperial expansion in the area will re-ignite conflict with the sea princes. As such, the Traditionalist's political enemies are the Loyalists.
In accordance with this, the Traditionalists - while still loyal to Keoland - often oppose the Saltmarsh Mining Company and, to a lesser extent, the Saltmarsh Guard.
Traditionalist council members include Eda Oweland and Gellan Primewater. While independent, Anders Solmor often sides with the traditionalists too.
Structure
The Traditionalists are a formal political alliance, a political party if you will, of powerful merchants and fishing families. As such, there are several business enterprises with their own structures supporting the Traditionalists, but the party structure is as follows:
- Party Leader: the foremost councilmemeber of the Traditionalist faction, currently Eda Oweland, Senior Councilwoman of the Saltmarsh Town Council
- Councilmembers: other councilmembers who are not the Party Leader, currently only Gellan Primewater holds this position.
Public Agenda
The Traditionalists simply wish things would return to the way they were before the Crown came with ambitions to "improve" Saltmarsh. They do not want imperial investments such as the dwarven mine, they want the town guard to return to defending the town from external threats rather than (what they see) as the guard harassing merchants, and they want to prevent war between Keoland and the Sea Princes
