Dowan Sky Empire
The predecessor to the Svanti Empire, the Dowan Sky Empire once ruled over all of Kirru with their mighty Sky Claves.
History
If Dwarven history is to believed, The Sky Empire started with the unification of the races of Kirru under Urûr and the dwarves to fight of the Titan Teth and the newely created Fiendish Lord, O-Bakemo. After their successful campaign, the dwarves took charge of the realm. and all of the races were grateful for their guidance and rulership. But the other races grew jealous of the great dwarven Sky Claves, and conspired to sabotage them, weaking the power of the Empire and allowing the Svanti Empire to rise.
The Svanti Empire disagrees with this version of history, claiming that the dwarven empire had grown completely paranoid and tyrannical, and held the other races under their thumb with the threat of annihilation from the Sky Claves. The Eleyai, viewing it as their sacred duty to steward the sky, help to liberate the people and destroy the Claves, causing the collapse of the Empire.
Disbandment
After the engineerical failure of the Sky Claves, a majority of the empires military was in shambles, and the Eleyai took the opportunity to declare themselves the true stewards of the sky, creating the Svanti Empire. With revolts all around the realm, the dwarves swiftly found themselves push north. They constructed mighty walls, but their Empire was no more, and they became the Dowan Holdout, who one day seeks to regain control over the realm.
Demography and Population
The dwarven sky empire once dominated the entirety of Kirru, and held nearly all of its population in its grasp. Dwarves held the most power, and its is believed that the Latra also held a high position in the empire as well.
Territories
In its heyday, the Sky Empire controlled nearly all of Kirru, with the sole exception of some giant territories and a few dragon infested mountains.
Military
The Sky Empire once held a massive military force, mostly maintained in the inners of the Sky Claves, but over time, more and more of their traditional miltary was phased out in favor of relying on the Sky Claves to intimidate any potential enemies. Thus, when the Sky Claves failed, the weakend military was ill-equipped to deal with the revolutions occuring all across the realm.
Technological Level
The ancient dowan dwarves were masters of technological progress, and under the guidance of Urûr, crafted the Sky Claves, massive floating fortresses, equipped with all manner of powerful weaponry. However, with the downfall of the Empire, knowledge of how to build and maintain the Sky Claves was lost, and they slowly fell to disrepair and sabatoge. Now, only one functional Sky Clave remains, in the heart of the Dowan Holdout.
Religion
While they venerated and worship the Dwarven Pantheon, the Sky Empire extolled Urûr above all the others. Their successor, the Dowan Holdout, continues this practice.
Foreign Relations
According to dwarven lore, the Sky Empire was beloved by all until agitators from the Eleyai turned people against them. But according to the history of the Svanti Empire, as well as many historical accounts of the other races, the Sky Empire was hated and feared for the constant threat of the Sky Claves.
Laws
Few records remain of the time of the Sky Empire, as the Svanti Empire has purged most of its history, but tales speak of its laws growing more draconion over time, as the dwarvens began to try to bring the commands of Urûr to the common folk.
