Empress Haru Anzai

Haru Anzai was an Empress of the Anzai Dynasty during the early warring states period of the Shou Empire.

Early Life

Haru was born in Teikyou, and lived her childhood as crown princess of the Anzai Dynasty. Haru's mother was murdered in a political scandal when she was nine, and was almost killed herself. Barely surviving, she was cursed with a seemingly incurable sickness that left her with prominent scarring and a chronic wound on her back. Initially groomed for rulership, her sickly disposition, unusual albino appearance, and poor mental state made her a difficult political candidate.

Adulthood

With her father slain during the 798 coup in the Shou Empire, she ascended the to the throne as Empress, although ruling only a fractured portion of the empire. She was nearly killed once again during the coup itself by Asumi Fujiwara, but under strange circumstances managed to befriend her later in life. During the events of the coup, she also met her future wife, Tilly Anzai.

Involvement with Seiken

In the aftermath of the 798 coup, Haru heavily prioritized purifying the holy blade, Seiken, which was in the process of being corrupted by Tradoth. Initially seeking to sacrifice her own life to save it due to her chronic illness, she was stopped by Aieth Meliamne, who chose to sacrifice himself instead. Haru was cured of her sickness during her expedition to purify the sword, although it is not known how. However, she seemed to lose her ability to cast magic completely upon returning from the expedition.
