Materia 33: "Valley of Shadows"
General Summary
After catching up at the Suzaku palace in Teikyou, the party is thrown into disarray as they are teleported to the Valley of Shadows in the Juvean Desert via a swapped magic circle. Ambushed by a small army of Solite soliders, the party is taken captive, with Jun Houou already captured. The party meets the ruthless Ilphas Fahana, as well as Viseri Thedan, a member House Thedan. After acquainting themselves with Viseri, the party witnesses a plot against his life, but fails to stop it; instead, the Solite camp eurupts into chaos.
Using the confusion to escape with Viseri, the party narrowly avoids an attack by a great worm on the camp, which wipes out other captive Fujiwara servants. Travelling to Reptar's Ruin at Viseri's request, the party uses Melora's power to bring him back to life. At the ruin, the party meets the Dusk Companions, and a priest of the Raven Queen named Valex Sin'ro urges the party to betray Viseri and kill him. The party opts to side with Viseri insteads and bets on his ambition plan to visit the Pool of the Ith in the Transcendant Tomb beneath the Valley of Shadows and gain authority from a parasite that resides there.
Along the way, the party finds the Hall of the Transcendant looted, which contained the tombs of past Sultans. Taken from it was a powerful robe named the Robe of the Sahir, allegedly taken by Aiwin and his Ikbal, Myriell, whom Viseri may share a connection with. After finding evidence of Jun escaping his captors, the party arrives at the Raven's Tree deep in the Transcendant Tomb, and crosses pathes again with Ilphas Fahana and his men.
