Sword Saint Sayaka Anzai

Sayaka Anzai was a prodigy Sword Saint from the Anzai Dynasty and the last holder of the Shou holy blade Seiken. She gained the Sword Saint title at the age of 19, and held it from 996 until her death in 1018. Sayaka did not marry or have any children.

Personality

Sayaka was known for her diligent, unflappable personality. While often serious and levelheaded, she was capable of loosening up with close friends. She had great attachment and adoration for her younger brother, Sora Anzai, whom she swore to protect as Sword Saint as long as he lived. Sayaka's martial prowess and unusual status as both a female Sword Saint born from nobility was widely recognized, making her a celebrity, even in her lifetime during the Shou Warring States period.

Death

As the Shou Warring States period drew to a close circa 1018, the Fujiwara Dynasty demanded the retrieval from a magic artifact from Volaris as a condition for a marriage alliance to end the war. The demand was near impossible, and likely a strategy to buy time. However, Sayaka traveled east to secure the peace and retrieved the artifact, dying in the process.
