Anatomy
Physically much larger than other mer, deep mer are muscle-bound and dark red, to better blend in with the dark waters they call home.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Fish and eels. Occasionally dead whales appear on the ocean's surface with massive chunks bitten out of them, though its unknown whether these mer were the cause.

Large milky eyes and narrow, angular faces. Their mouths have more teeth than looks physically possible.
