Chansola

A small village between the city of Degrinoll and Dramsville, the Elves of Chansola are more outgoing than their kin in the Deepwood. As the city of Degrinoll are strict on who they let in, most of the trade between elves and the other races takes place either here, in Heria or Thalmia.

Demographics

The populace is comprised almost entirely of elves and half-elves, though a few humans also live here. Despite having a monotypic culture, there is a wide diversity of races present in the village at most towns due to the trading nature of the settlement. The village is run by the Chansolan Council, a small group of elder locals who manage and govern the towns infrastructure, taxes and other policies. The people of Chansola are all fairly well off, proffiting from the trade here, never wanting for food or essential resources but not living in the lap of luxury save for a few with close financial ties to the trading outposts present.

Government

The village is run by the Chansolan Council, a group of elder locals that govern the village from taxes, punishment of criminals, upkeep of infratructure and so on. The council has remained unchanged for many decades due to the long life of Elves.

Defences

Chansola receives aid from Degrinoll in the form of soldiers and townsguards stationed year round to keep the peace and protect the village from threats, both internal and external.

Industry & Trade

Being situated between Degrinoll and Cardinoll, the trade occuring here is prosperous. Most of the trade occuring here is for natural materials such as wood and stone, which is always in demand, though there is a market for more valuable goods and commodities. Most of the permanant residents are townsguards, run businesses such as inns, provide services such as smithing, or have investments and handlings with the trading posts to get by.

Infrastructure

Most of the buildings are constructed from stone and wood. There is one stone bridge on the main route into the North Passolan Grasslands and three, smaller wooden bridges across the River Drydeth. There is also a watermill present that grinds grain into flour for th local residents.

Guilds and Factions

The Chansolan Council runs the settlement and co-ordinates with the local trading posts regarding commerce and tax. While most of the trade occurs through locally run trading posts, The Sahlabaoan Merchants Guild and the Dwarven Merchant's Guild also have a presence here, as they do in any settlement where prominent trade occurs.

History

Chansola began as a single trading outpost for importing and storing stone for construction within the Great Forest. Once the people of the North Passolan Grasslands began expanded their settlements, they began importing wood from the forest, most of which passed through Chansola as the road was already in place. Gradually over time, the outpost grew larger and became the main hub for construction trade between the two regions.

Architecture

The majority of buildings are small, 2 level buildings constructed from stone and wood with slanted wooden roofs. Some of the smaller buildings are comprised of purely from wood, as are the small merchant stalls present near the main roads through the village. The watermill on the river bank is constructed entirely from stone, save the mechanical parts of tghe structure and the roof.

Geography

Chansola sits adjacent to the River Drydeth on a mostly flat outer region of The Great Forest. There is a road running north towards Dramsville, a road running west to the bridge that crosses Lake Malar to the capitol, and another running south towards Thalmia.

Natural Resources

Surrounding the village is a thick forest comprised of oak, birch and beech trees. The village sits on an almost island, rich with wild boar and arable land where many berries and other fruits grow.
