Phyteas Barsotti
Gifted with the ability to wield the "Laram om Elementen" and the "Laram om Forändring", Phyteas Barsotti is a a widely known wizard from
the Academy. Having a natural aptitude for magic, he was quick to ascend the ranks, becoming, by 1023, Champion of the Duelists Tourney.
Phyteas is an expert in Elemental manipulation and, more specifically, a Master of Lightning. Handsome, incredibly intelligent and outgoing, he is considered by many, the most popular wizard in The Academy, however, he is also very rebellious and stubborn, collecting enemies just as easy as he befriends others.
History
Phyteas was born in Umera ,his family, the Barsotti, rank amongst the richest and most glamorous of the city. And so, from his childhood, he lived a well-endowed and wealthy life, which provided him with all the means and resources for success. However, he showed his rebellious nature from birth, hating rules and limits, yet utterly ambitious, gaining his father's approval and support as Phyteas seemed a prodigy to nearly everything he tried. In his education, he proved to excel in linguistics, mathematics, natural sciences, martial theory and even art. The same went for more practical fields: horseback riding, fencing, archery. At the age of 12, he seemed to have exceeded any and all expectations, destined to become a knight and possibly a lord or general. That is, until he discovered his powers.During one auspicious evening, young Phyteas climbed a rocky cliff of the mountain wall that surrounds Umera. As he reached the top, dark clouds were gathering around, yet he refused to return home. He strolled around the treacherous, winding paths of the range, when he was suddenly ambushed by a group of stalkers. Despite being armed with a bow, the odds were against him. As one of the creatures leapt for the boy, he brought his hands up in an instinct, and thunder was heard: before him, the stalker had been grievously wounded by an arc of lightning, which had spurted from Phyteas's hands. He knew in an instant what it meant and, unlike others, he didn't fear nor rejected his gift, instead, it changed him forever. What followed was a carnage: being alone against a group of foes, he didn't think of measuring his effort, in turn using his full capability (despite having just found out his potential). The stalkers stood no chance, and Phyteas returned home, his power already up his mind. Phyteas rejected his studies, focusing solely on his newfound abilities, discovering he could manipulate all elements, albeit having a clear, better aptitude for lightning. Some time later, he becomes friends with a particular young girl who, like him, was different. Her name was Anna, and it didn't take long for them to become close. Being older, Phyteas taught Anna how to defend herself and to grow her confidence in her skills, and she, in turn, humbled him down somewhat.
Years later, Phyteas was forced to move to Legacya, as his father refused to accept his nature and would not allow the boy to compromise his position in the city. The young wizard was sent to his uncle's property, who worked as a herder.
Resisting at first, Phyteas learned to like his new life; having the wilderness around meant he was free to develop his skills beyond imagination, until he had his first scare with the Creepers. For the first time in a while, he felt afraid, he feared for his life, powerless against the horrors that pursued him in the woods. When all seemed lost, he was saved by a knight and his companion, a skinny and rather frail-looking girl, named Aila. It didn't take more than a chit-chat for them to enjoy each other's company, in which she made a proposition that changed him, yet again, an invitation to join The Academy.
Marvelled by the magical city, Phyteas gave his best, fuelled by ambition, spending several years in the pocket dimension. He went back to Umera at some point, to bring his old, green-haired friend, to the magic school.
In 1023, during the coup that occurred in the Academy, Phyteas was accused and sentenced to death for conspiracy and treason. Yet, word soon spread out that Baldardash, the All-Caster, had, somehow, brought him back to life. His current location is unknown.
