The Great Demon Invasion

A meteor originated from the Abyss lands in the western part of Ëndria, creating a massive crater. Countless demons pours through it and wreaks havoc upon the land. Armies are gathered and alliances are formed, and through intense fighting, the demons are defeated and their lord, Juiblex, is driven back through the gateway.

In 4112, a meteor from the Abyss landed in the western part of Ëndria, and a 15 kilometer wide crater was formed. Demons poured out of the meteor, as a gateway between the Abyss and Midranor had been created, and they started to ravage the lands. The dwarves of the Silver Mountains sent out a scout party to investigate the meteor, however when it didn't return they figured it was because of the harsh winter weather, and decided to wait until the spring before sending out another one. Eventually they found out about the demon invasion and sent out word to the rest of the continent.   As their armies gathered and the first small squadrons of the Crimson Lions arrived, the demon lord, Juiblex, had arrived through the gateway to take command over the demon horde. A year of defenive fighting occoured, as the dwarves desperatly tried to restrain the advance of the demon armies, but after considerable losses and demons still spilling out of the gateway, the armies of the Crimson Lions finally arrived.   With the combined forces of the dwarves, the Crimson Lions and the city of Thar'ziq, the demon armies were pushed back into the crater, which had become a hellscape covered in ooze, with endless acidic pits everywhere to be seen. It is told that that men were driven mad in the battle in the late summer of 4116. The battle which, at long last, secured victory for the allied forces, as the demons were defeated and Juiblex driven back to the Abyss.   In the following years a great fortress was built at the only known exit point of the crater, a fortress now knows as The Great Stairway. By the craftmanship of the dwarves, with help from the mages of Arcane Collective, the fortress was finished in 4126, and stands firm even today.
