History and Background

The Mythic Past

Desridaen was a close friend of the King of the Elves, Daelda, and weaponsmith to the Crown. He fought beside his King during the Battle of Sorrows, witnessing his fall to a conjured demon. Desridaen was captured on the battlefield by Taurin Halfhand, one of the revered thirteen prophets of the god of assassins Naveh. He was torture physically and mentally, with his spirit twisted and corrupted. The Greater Gytevsha Krasula was involved with this process.

While living, he forged the infamous Desridaen Long Knives for the Assassin-Priests of Naveh and was murdered after creating his most magnificent weapon. His spirit eventually found service in the court of Naveh, rising to his primary weaponsmith. As he gained power, he nursed his desire for freedom and revenge. He has an abiding hatred for Krasula, the Hunter of Sleep whose nightmares corrupted him.

Recent Times

In early 720TR in the City of Coranan, Senator Baloth Nemirina was secretly the Harnic Primate of the Church of Naveh. The Navean Pontiff instructed him to invoke the Rite of Nao-Thian. On the night of Shadowmath, the Greater Gytevsha Krasula would be summoned, and the City would erupt in an orgy of violence and death. The dead souls would then be stored in a gem and used to enchant a weapon of unholy murder. The weapon in question would be one of the magnificent Elven kong knives forged by Desridaen.

Observing the somewhat mentally deranged wizard Quazzy, Desridaen saw his opportunity. He secretly contacted Quazzy and granted her many dark magical powers. Desridaen manipulated events to ensure that on Shadowmath, Krasula would be summoned, defeated, and captured by his enemies in a Peonian Dream Box. Rather than create the weapon of death, the souls of the dead would instead be used to free himself from the grip of the god Naveh, a small price to pay. The destruction of Naveh's temple in Coranan, and the death of most of its Priests, was a bonus.

Now a free agent, Desridaen's goals are unclear. He seems content to teach Quazzy dark magics and lore while reminiscing over events from the ancient past. He still bears a grudge against the God Naveh and will plot the destruction of his minions wherever possible.
