Barim Nami

At the first mere murmurs of Mythrite that came to Bowshot, Barim left his hometown, tired of lumbering and tired of his short-scoped life. Deadset on deciding his living for himself, he made his journey to Mythrite, abandoning his adopters, his acquaintances, and his old job without so much of a word. Barim knew he wasn't strictly necessary. The people he left behind would do just fine without him. He had enough coin and knowledge to accompany a trip with a group of eight other humans making the same trip. Despite his experiences not ranging far from the Misty Forest and other areas near Bowshot, Barim still had survival skills that held him well on the journey, on top of his efficient lumbering, whether it revolved around food gathering, fighting, or sheltering. However, it was not uncommon to borrow or take without asking, or stir up trouble in some other fashion. Though he was no leader, Barim would never let his plans go unheard and unacted upon, even if no one else agreed with them. His group would arrive within the first two months, after a trip of many squabbles, yet remaining alive all the same.   Being a human-nobody not from one of the great cities, not many paid any attention to Barim outside of his original caravan group, whom he ended up rooming with, with no more than his usual complaints. After finding out that trips to the mines were not for him, he became part of the Town Guard guard and watched over the activities of Mythrite. Barim found that he enjoyed watching all of the different townsfolk work different jobs, much more intently than in Bowshot. He often relished the times he'd work in Charlamaine Hill, enjoying the views when he wasn't supposed to.   Though set on his ideals, Barim isn't one to abandon what's needed to be done as a whole. He dislikes the Caravan Guard, despising that so many choose to protect the miners and not the town. He refuses to join the caravan guard, knowing the danger that Mythrite constantly bathes in without any proper security. Even so, when contracted, Barim seldom does the job without questions. If Barim likes his contractor, he'll do his job with no questions asked. If not, he'll skirt the lines of the deal, and choose to do whatever amuses him most, even if it welcomes in a little bit of thievery. But, at the end of the day, his job comes down to protecting Mythrite, to protect how he lives, and he'll do so against any monsters or miscreants that try to make their way in.

History

Blaine's first encountered Barim at the Quivering Quaver. Barim walked into the instrument storage room and nonchalantly began playing and messing with some of the instruments while bored of his current job as Town Guard. It's no question to anyone who sees them that the two don't get along.   "Stop doing that, you'll break it!" Blaine shouted.   While continuing without a care, Barim managed to snap all of the strings off of the lyre he had been entertaining himself with. After cursing as his hand bled from the snapped strings, his temper caused him to smash the lyre into the ground.   "What the HELL is wrong with you?!"   Blaine tried to push him away in a fury. With the little physical strength he had, he only succeeded in making himself angrier, and showing Barim the difference in their physical capabilities.   "You couldn't fight a 12-year old, let alone a monster with how weak are you. What's a pipsqueak like you doin' in Mythrite?"   Blaine pulled his knife.   "LEAVE, and do your job PROPERLY!"   Barim left, unable to stand the weakling that stood before him. Ever since then, Blaine made every attempt to avoid confrontation with such a careless brute who could disrespect the very surroundings of where he went.
