Professor Serena

A creature of the forest tamed by the medical profession, Professor Serena teaches the Medical Professions class where she prepares her students for the hard and sterile work of being a modern healer.

During Houndsmoth:

In this course, Serena teaches her students a massive overview of the medical profession, rather than specializing in a practice.

Subjects like medical terminology, medications, procedures, professions and their roles. She also teaches pseudo sciences like herbal healing and mysticism to identify the difference between real and fake healing.

This class would prepare her students for the rigors of medical school and its various fields.

Serena's mindset represents the advances we've made in treating illnesses and injuries. However, even with all the prognoses and procedures we have to heal the human body, miraculous recoveries still happen that can't be measured or monetized.

Serena is a reserved woman who once lived in the wilds of the forest as a druidic healer. Being dragged back to civilization by Mr. Houndsmoth, she buried her past and became a respected medical professional and came to teach at Houndsmoth Manor.

One of her primary mannerisms is her belief in "an equivalent exchange of services." If she's going to provide a service, the recipient must provide just compensation. However, her payment is rarely ever in money.

In Season 1, Professor Serena heals Silas Yamane and his broken leg in exchange for his services as her assistant. She usual keeps to herself, including around the other professors.

However, parts of her life as a druid creep back whenever she looks into the forest, sneaking into the forest to pick herbs for her classes, accompanied by Professor Irwin.
