Kanaloa

Kanloa, the great moving city. Built on the back of the whale god it's named after, Kanaloa drifts through the Shimmering Sea. It's said that all things lost to the ocean eventually find their way to Kanaloa, making the city a well-known stop for merchants, craftsmen, and treasure-hunters. However the mercantile nature of this society has led to the formation of a distinct separation between the wealthy and the poor, leading to a rise in gang-related violence.   Since the arrival of Up In Arms...   The Crimps, Kanaloa's most prolific gang, have been neutralized. With Crimson Tide's most vocal supporters removed from the city, Mayor Sedna has made the executive decision to ally Kanaloa with Lupe Reef, joining the commonwealth.   As per Selene's request, an Orphanage has been built in the city: the Orphan House of Oceanus.   Due to popular demand after seeing how Up in Arms treated the Crimps, criminals are now lead through the city in chains before being flung into the blowhole.

Demographics

The inhabitants of Kanaloa used to be split between two very distinct social classes: the Topside (rich) and the Crimps (poor). "The Topside" is a derogatory slang term used by the impoverished citizens of Kanaloa in reference to the wealthier inhabitants, many of whom live higher up in the "top" decks of the city. Many Topsiders are retired merchants, travelers, and artists. The Topsiders of Kanaloa are staunch supporters of Lupe Reef and are delighted by Mayor Sedna's decision to enter Kanaloa into the Commonwealth. "The Crimps" were a gang of impoverished street urchins, most of which were orphans. They defended the poor and downtrodden residents of Kanaloa, taking arms against the Topsiders and stealing whatever they could to get by. The Crimps made their base within the whale itself, living in squalid conditions. As the Crimps aged into maturity, many resorted to allying themselves with the Crimson Tide and turning towards piracy. Since the Crimps have been removed from the city, many of the impoverished members of Kanaloa have either perished or fled the city.

Government

Kanaloa is a mercantile nation, ran by Mayor Sedna, walrus goddess of seals and icy waters. It is fortold that if Kanaloa himself is ever displeased with the current Mayor, he may choose a new individual to take over the city.
