Tassah (tah SAH)

Goddess of the Sea

CobaltDM - May 24, 2022, updated April 5, 2023
Tassah, also known as Wrath, is the Goddess of the Sea. She is the former lover of Enamos, though their relationship ended when the God of the Moons was killed by Yparxis and became Didymos. She grew bitter and angry with time, and the seas became chaotic. She is the creator of the Leviathan, the Krakens, and other deep sea monsters. She is also the mother of merfolk, Sea Elves, and other humanoids indigenous to the waters.

"Like her former lover, Tassah was once a benevolent deity. How far she has fallen..." - Aldernon the Wise

From the beginning, Tassah was a free-spirited and loving goddess. Much like her adopted mother Mestonia, Tassah cared deeply for her peers. She grew a close bond with Makeiro, whom she treated as a sister. As such, when Mytkora was built and their domains began to form, Tassah built the great bodies of water she called oceans, while Makeiro formed the lakes and rivers. Their bond is why nearly all rivers will eventually flow into the sea.   Most of all, Tassah grew close with Enamos. Their love flourished, forever binding the seas to the moon--their connection caused the tides to reach for the moon as it passed overhead. Unfortunately, tragedy would befall the loving couple. The Calamity came and Enamos was killed. Didymos returned, and their relationship would never heal. Tassah spent centuries trying to comfort them and to bring the good that remained within to the surface, but it was in vain. Brokenhearted, Tassah returned to her domain and built a new home for herself in the depths of the seas. A piece of her still longs for the good that was Enamos, evidenced by the tides following Kalos on its path across the sky.   She grew bitter in this realm. Her anger and frustration mounted; her failure ate away at her until there was little left of the bright and cheery goddess she was before. When Kebis visited to help create life to fill the endless oceans, Tassah turned him away; the goddess wanted no help with her next task. Swearing a vow to never again return to the surface, she created her all-powerful Staff of Wrath and unleashed terror on the seas of Mytkora. This surge of power created the Leviathan, the first titan. After it came Krakens, Megalodons, and other great titans of the sea. Vast rifts were cut in the depths, creating fathomless underwater trenches filled with unknown creatures and unimaginable horrors. She filled the oceans with fish and other sea life after observing Kebis' abilities, much to the chagrin of the Stag.    When mortals were created, she jealously created Sea Elves, Merfolk, Yuan-ti, and many other ocean-based humanoids to be her own followers. These mortals formed tight-knit communities, and developed into a cult known as The Children of Wrath. The leader of this organization, called the Tidespeaker, served as the direct connection between Tassah and the rest of mortalkind. There was great panic when The Silence came. Three Tidespeakers were appointed and subsequently executed over the course of three years before the Children accepted their abandonment. However, there are some that still hold faith, and continue their ritualistic practices in the dark corners of many of Mytkora's major cities. Meanwhile, the Children have mobilized and have reportedly destroyed dozens of ships traveling in the Dread Sea. Their new Tidespeaker, a Sea Elf called Entropy, seeks to punish the surface dwellers for the disappearance of their goddess.
