Ophidium (Oh-fid-ee-umm)
Ophidium is the realm of Sor'zaa, the demon prime of Cruelty. While many of the realms of the Abyss have existed since the dawn of time, Ophidium is a unique case - Sor'zaa broke down the powers that held together multiple other planes, and reshaped them in exacting detail to make her seat of power.
Ophidium is a vast city formed from basalt, with narrow alleys cutting between vast towers that reach towards the viridian sky. Its design is incredibly exacting compared to mundane cities, a complex geometry of streets and sharp angles where nothing seems out of place or by accident. Its districts are split iteratively like an hexagonal fractal - the largest districts still retain the properties of the planes that they were formed from, while the smallest are simply a small square that allows entrance to buildings.
It is ruled and closely watched by Sor'zaa's minions, an array of powerful demons who rule with a grip of steel and blood. At its center lays Sor'zaa's seat of power.
Fauna & Flora
Unlike many of the demon prime's realms, Ophidium has a large number of mortals. Their life is one of suffering, where most can only hope that they somehow achieve the release of death and move on to a true afterlife. Unfortunately, the fate of nearly all is to be used to further their demonic ruler's goals. They are used as servants, fuel for magical devices, turned into demons, or far worse fates. Most scholars compare their lives to that of livestock, allowing Sor'zaa to grow her own souls rather than compete with her siblings to collect them.
Of the mortals that reside in Ophidium, the most common are humans, naga, and aznesh.
