The Boiling Fields

The Boiling Fields is a plane of the Abyss and the realm of Arvok. It appears as a large sea of boiling black ichor, with a citadel of the purest white marble visible in the distance regardless of which direction you look. The citadel is named Cunoasterii, and is said to be an incredible repository of magical knowledge and secrets that The Bloody King has stored away.

Geography

It is said that The Boiling Fields were designed to be impossible to enter surreptitiously, and all who enter the plane find themselves on a small raft with the citadel in the distance. Even traversing the vast ocean is said to be a difficult task, not to speak of Arvok's servants, and landing at the citadel itself.

Cunoasterii

The citadel of the Bloody King is a multilayered castle of the purest white marble with the densely packed alleys of a city, but the layered towering walls and parapets of a fortress. It defies normal physical laws, and is split into numerous different wards. The lower wards are the most accessible to outsiders, and where most visitors find themselves if they manage to reach the citadel.   The upper wards are located at higher and higher elevations of the citadel, but still somehow have ports and landing docks at sea level. Each successive layer higher has an even more obscure and difficult method to land at the docks, and such methods are regularly rendered obsolete. It is said that only Arvok knows the methods to arrive at the highest wards of the citadel.

Tourism

Few visit Cunoasterii without invitation - many mages have made pacts simply for admittance into its lowest wards in hope of learning from the mages and demons residing there. Others travel to Cunoasterii in hopes of using the teleportation and planar portals the residents have access to. Regardless the reason, admittance is costly, and life inside full of hidden dangers.
