Tazan, The Ravenous One

Tazan, The Ravenous One, was an ancient evil and one of the first beings of the universe. It predated almost everything other than the Ancient Ones themselves. It was said to have been defeated at the end of a great war that spanned the cosmos, and lead to the deaths of uncountable gods, and the destruction of vast swathes of planes.

Summary

Legends say that one of the first creations of the Ancient Ones was a being known as Tazan, The Ravenous One. Jealous of the other creatures its creators made, it attempted to destroy all other life as it came into existence and consumed their souls to become more powerful. Receiving no aid from the distant Ancients, the creatures of the multiverse banded together to fight Tazan. The war that followed is said to have lasted hundreds of thousands of years - some think it may have been even longer. It reached every corner of the multiverse.
At the end of this war, Tazan was still too powerful to destroy completely. Instead, as Suriel struck the final blow, Tazan's soul was split into seven fragments. Each of these fragments became one of the demon primes.

Aftermath

Though Tazan was defeated, it was not the end of evil. The Celestial Wastes where Tazan is said to have been slain remains filled with creatures hoping to siphon away even a fraction of Tazan's lingering power. The demon primes fled to the furthest point they could, and brought the Abyss into existence.
