Mistwalk

The Miswtalk is a small strait of land which extends out short distance from the edge of the The Shards into the Central Sea. The Mistwalk is the only way to reach The Skirling.
Crossing this thin path is incredible dangerous - the strong gusts from the Skirling pull mists down from the peaks of the Shards, coating the entire pass in an impenetrable fog. As well as this, the Mistwalk and all areas past it remain completely untamed, and is teeming with all kinds of dangerous creatures not usually seen outside The Darkening. It is one of the few places on this world I haven't dared to go, though I was able to circumvent the issue by reaching the Skirling by teleportation.
Very few dare to cross the Mistwalk, with the majority of people considering it a death sentence. Even full scale official trips, complete with Inquisitors  protection, are certain to loose a portion of the number before reaching the Skirling.

History

It is thought that the Skirling at one point hovered over the ocean with no ground beneath it, however over time its winds pulled sediment up from the sea floor to create a ground beneath it. Many believe that the Mistwalk was formed through the same process.
