Widely considered to be the oldest Vampire on the plane, Ionia was born during the War of Roses over 1700 years ago. She is feared across Respite for her grand displays of violence & bloodshed. For her, a mission, even one to destory fellow Vampires, is an opportunity to put on a show. Tales of Ionia's kills have done as much to frighten the civilian population of Respite as actual monsters. Even other Vampires are afraid of her. She holds a low opinion of Lavinia, partly due to the actions of Lavinia's husband during his time as Rose Monarch, but more so due to Lavinia's perceived weakness which Ionia finds unworthy of an Elder Vampire.
Ionia keeps herself seperated from the politics of the Rose Kingdoms, focusing all her efforts on her work, which she deems vastly more important than royal politics. For a person in her position, she cannot afford to show favoritism to anyone, especially not her own kind. Under her leadership, the Blades in the Dark have been refined into one of the most elite fighting forces on the plane.
Despite her contempt for the aristocracy of Respite, there are certain individuals she holds deep respect for. Thalia, First Blade of the Cathars Crusade, has caught her eye for her dedication to the work, her masterful skill, and the artistry of her fighting. She gets on well with Commander Tamsin and the Soulswatch, also bound steadfast to their duty, as well as having the largest population of members old enough to wax nostalgic about times hundreds or thousands of years ago.
