- The party observes Tara being treated poorly by Marja, the caravan leader. Tara shies away from the party. Marja observes attempted conversation between Cathlynn and Tara. He interrupts the conversation and sends Tara inside the lead caravan wagon and forbids her from coming out. Party observes Tara only comes out for brief moments in time during the night. Cathlynn believes she hears Tara being beaten by Marja inside the caravan wagon.

- While party is sitting around campfire during evening, Tara approaches Cathlynn and asks to talk with her privately. Tara reveals that Marja is not her father, but Marja told her to call him that. Marja plans to sell Tara at the Karja Trading Post as a slave. Cathlynn assures Tara that she isn't going to let that happen. Cathlynn Wild-shapes into a black dog and sleeps on top of the wagon immediately behind Tara's wagon to stand guard. The Party takes turns at the night watch. Matteu observes one of the caravan members pick pocketing another individuals bags. Matteu takes no action on this.

Caravan arrives in Karja @ 11 am.- Marja escorts Tara to the trading block by the wharf. Cathlynn makes a side deal with auctioneer and pays 200 gold for Tara so that she isn't part of the auction.
- Party rents rooms at the Black Swan Inn. They notice a wanted sign tacked by the inn's front door. It is an advertisement requesting anyone who wants to earn gold to contact someone named "Pranax" within the Black Swan. Tara accompanies them and spends the night with them, going to their room immediately after entering the inn.
- The Party meets with Lord Pranax, as he makes them aware that he is a Lord of Lankhmar. He claims to be an archaeologist looking for assistants to help him locate artifacts and/or other items of historical interest in a crumbling tower 8 miles west of Karja. The tower is said to be one of the last remaining fragments of a much larger keep that once stood at that location. Lord Pranax reports that the tower is occupied by Unknown denizens and is afraid to approach the tower until it is fully cleared.
- The Party agrees to the task Lord Pranax has for them but tells Lord Pranax they can't begin until they figure out what to do with Tara. Lord Pranax states that he can assist them by taking Tara to an orphanage run by a convent that stands at the edge of town. Cathlynn agrees reluctantly but insists on checking on Tara before they head to the tower on the next morning.
- Lord Pranax offers to pay for the party's rooms, food and any/all equipment they would need to accomplish their task. Lord Pranax retires to his room for the evening.
- The party sees Marja entering the Black Swan for drinks and dinner. They approach and confront Marja for his intended crime with Tara. The confrontation turns quickly into an argument and then into a fight. After 4 rounds, Matteu delivers a critical killing blow and ends Marja's life on the Inn's floor.
- The party retires to their room for the evening.
