Tara was first encountered by the Heretic on a caravan led by the Dark Oak Trading Company. There, Cathlynn determined that Tara was being trafficked; she was to be sold to the highest bidder at the Karja Tal Trading Post. The caravan leader, Marja posed as her father but in reality was her enslaver. He caused her a lot of mental anguish on the way to Karja Tal, and of course, being auctioned was mentally traumatic as well.
Cathlynn, knowing there was no way to physically take her from Marja, instead bought Tara at the auction. She subsequently left her at a convent in Karja Tal, as she was promised by Lord Pranax that she would be well taken care of. The next day, Tara was taken by the nuns and given to Kult Drachen, who subsequently carted her out of Karja Tal to a currently Unknown destination.
