Earth ARC Events

A deteriorated atmosphere on Earth has caused extreme, erratic weather patterns with intense thunderstorms and other atmospheric phenomena. Earth's ARC Events are solar storms that bombard the surface of the planet. This includes areas of roaming destruction that deal substantial Radiation and Thermal damage over a short period of time to anything caught within them. These areas are visually prominent so players can attempt to avoid them.   In the five minutes leading up to the Event, the sky slowly turns various shades of red and orange. Once the storm arrives, ambient light fades by 60%. Lightning crackles across the skybox every few seconds and a slightly opaque haze emanates from the ground. Multiple parts of the Map become covered with solar radiation. These areas vary in size but are generally around 15 meters wide, moving at three meters per second.

Shelter

Solid structures are generally safe to take shelter in while storms pass overhead. However, some structures have openings in their roofs which allow the area below them to become affected by roaming storms. Players should pay close attention as to not get caught in them.

Class I Solar Storm

Class I storms last five minutes. The warning that appears on player’s Action Feed one minute before the event starts reads “Warning: Class I Solar Storm imminent. Take shelter.”. Much of the map experiences roaming storms that cause Radiation and Thermal damage every two seconds, equal to (Max SP + Max HP ) * 0.01.   Entering one of these areas applies a stacking Debuffs of Radiation every six seconds up to a maximum of 20 stacks. Stacks are removed after six seconds once the player has exited the area. Once a player has 10 stacks of Radiation, they are inflicted with Decay. The Decay debuff is refreshed every second the player remains at or above 10 stacks of Radiation.

Class II Solar Storm

Class II storms are longer and far more dangerous but have greater rewards. They last tenminutes before dissipating. The warning that appears on player’s Action Feed one minute before the event starts reads “Warning: Class II Solar Storm imminent. Evacuation advised.”.   Like Class I storms, much of the map experiences roaming solar storms that cause Radiation damage. However, Class II storms are three times as damaging, equal to (Max SP + Max HP) * 0.03.   Entering a storm area applies a stacking debuff of Radiation every two seconds. Stacks are removed after six seconds once the player has exited the area. Once a player has 10 stacks of Radiation, they are inflicted with Decay. The Decay debuff is refreshed every second the player remains at or above 10 stacks of Radiation Storm.   Additionally, players in Class II storms must also deal with severe lightning as well. Lightning strikes can occur anywhere on the map while the storm is active. Players will have to be extremely vigilant and mobile to avoid them. If a player is not under a shelter, a warning animation will play at the player's current location. One second later, lightning will strike that spot. Players can avoid these strikes, but remaining still or moving slowly results in being hit.   Lightning strikes deal (Max SP + Max HP) * .1 Ionic damage and applies the Electrified Debuff if a player is within 0.5 meters. Between 0.5 meter and 1.5 meters, lightning deals (Max SP + Max HP) * .05 Ionic damage. Lightning strikes occur every 8-10 seconds per player.
