Nexus utilizes a variety of different types of
Damage. Choosing the most effective
Elemental Damage to attack with can turn the tide of battle, just as having ineffective resistances may lead to defeat.
Normal
Damage that has no particular advantage or disadvantage.
Precision
Precision damage, often referred to as Critical, represents powerful strikes that are particularly effective. Precision hits cause greater impact as a reward for damaging a specific location on a target, such as the head or a designated weak point.
The total amount of damage applied is based on the
weapon or
ability used as well as the
Enemy Tier. These details will then apply a multiplier to the
total amount of damage inflicted.
Effective
Damage inflicted that has its efficacy increased by 30% or more, such as an
Elemental Damage attack that is particularly strong against a vulnerable target.
Lethal
Lethal damage is caused by a
Critical Strike which is randomly activated based on the player’s current Lethality statistic when dealing Precision damage. Some
Gear,
Mods, and
Abilities change Lethality values which can improve this chance.
Instead of Precision damage, Lethal damage is applied which inflicts 200% of the initial Precision damage.
Reduced
In some cases, damage inflicted may be reduced by 15% or more due to various factors such as damage mitigating
Overshields,
Barriers, or other resistances.
Invulnerable
When a target is immune to damage and attacks are 100% ineffective.
Piercing
Some weapons and attacks have the ability to penetrate
Overshields, dealing direct damage to a target’s
Health. Damage Piercing values are indicated by a percentage which represents how much of the attack's damage will bypass the target’s Overshield. However, Piercing damage cannot bypass
Barriers.
Residual
Attacks that inflict sustained, lingering damage over an extended period of time rather than immediately.
Force
Damage that affects physical balance. There are no intrinsic counters or weaknesses to Force attacks. Effective against
Stance, causes the
Staggered & Stunned statuses.
Interference
Damage that affects mental composure. There are no intrinsic counters or weaknesses to Interference attacks. Effective against
Symmetry, causes the
Disrupted & Desynchronized statuses.
