Overshield

Players have an Overshield that protects them from direct damage to their Health. This shield regenerates over time, providing a vital defense against enemy attacks.   Overshields (or SP for Shield Points) are represented by a blue SP bar on the player’s [HUD. Most incoming damage to a player impacts their Overshield first. As long as a player’s Overshield is active, they will not take damage to their HP and Armor will not suffer Durability loss from incoming attacks. Overshield damage is temporary and begins to automatically regenerate after being undamaged for 10 seconds. SP regenerates by 150 points per second.   In addition to becoming susceptible to HP damage, depleting a player’s Overshield causes an instant loss of 50 Battery Charge.   The delay to start SP regeneration and its recovery speed can be modified with the Discipline Attribute as well as Consumables, Skills, and Gear. It is important to note that some Damage Types such as Piercing can bypass Overshield and directly affect HP.   Certain enemies or obstacles may have Overshields as well. Additionally, someone Overshields can be Elemental Shields which have different properties and resistances, requiring the use of different weapons, abilities, or damage types to effectively break them.
