Drest

This water planet has a diminutive stature compared to its its stellar neighbors. Even so it coasts on the edge of the habitable zone, which means it receives just the right amount of heat and light to support liquid water on its surface.   Due to its close proximity to its star, Drest experiences tidal locking. Only the dark side of Drest is habitable. Extremophiles live at the depth of the oceans, and various alien out posts survive under the waves. Harsh conditions and frequent rain storms engulf the planet. Above the water land is both scarce and void of life.   The planet is occupied primarily by Andromeda Labs. The planet is perfect for their remote and secretive operations.  

Geography

  Planet Drest's geography is dominated by its dichotomous nature resulting from tidal locking. One hemisphere, eternally bathed in sunlight, is a desolate expanse of arid land devoid of life due to extreme heat and radiation exposure. The other hemisphere, perpetually shrouded in darkness, hosts the planet's habitable zone.   The habitable hemisphere, characterized by moderate temperatures, consists of vast, deep oceans where extremophiles thrive in the depths, adapted to the high pressures and low temperatures. The ocean floor is punctuated by alien structures, serving as remote habitats for various species. The surface of the habitable hemisphere experiences frequent rainstorms, perpetuated by the temperature differentials between the dark and light hemispheres.   The transition zone between the light and dark hemispheres, known as the terminator line, experiences extreme weather phenomena, including violent storms and turbulent winds. This region is sparsely inhabited due to the inhospitable conditions.   The uninhabitable hemisphere, hosts relentless sunlight beating down upon an unforgiving landscape. Scorching temperatures render the surface inhospitable, with rocky plains and barren deserts stretching as far as the eye can see. Intense radiation levels make survival impossible for any known life forms, relegating this hemisphere to a harsh realm devoid of life. Only the most resilient creatures could withstand such extreme conditions, yet even they find no refuge in this sun-scorched wasteland.

  Civilization on Planet Drest is sparse, primarily consisting of a handful of Andromeda Labs outposts and an aquatic people that has yet to advance beyond the Stone Age.     This vast collection of islands is largely barren above the surface of the water. Jagged cliffs and frequent rain storms dominate the landscape. Its harsh conditions have lead to Andromeda Labs adopting the region for scientific pursuits.
