Lycanbeasts

Basic Information

Anatomy

Like some other lycanthropes, Lycanbeast are shapechangers who can shift between the humanoid, a man-wolf hybrid shape, and fully lupine form that of a large wolf.    In their hybrid form, an average Lycanbeast appear exceptionally muscular, covered in thick wolf fur, and stood at 2.1 meters tall. They have a short tail, wolf-like legs, and head.    While in man-wolf shape, they walk upright, like most humanoids, and have agile hands with opposable thumbs. Unlike their full-wolf shape, they can speak in the hybrid form. However, their voices sound deep and hoarse. Both hybrid and wolf shapes allow them movement speed far superior to that of a humanoid.

Biological Traits

Male Lycanbeasts are generally larger than females and are able to grow facial hair. Female Lycanbeasts are able to produce milk from their breasts and are the ones that give birth.   Lycanbeasts are forced to change into their hybrid or fully lupine form when exposed to moonlight, but experienced Lycanbeasts are able to change into their both forms at will. Lycanbeasts are also able to rapidly heal wounds as long as it wasn't made from using silver.

Genetics and Reproduction

Lycanbeats reproduce sexually and are viviparous, they typically have a gestation period of 9 months.    Lycanbeats can create new Lycanbeast by biting another humanoid, if the victim doesn't get treated before the next full moon, they will either become a Lycanbeast or die.

Growth Rate & Stages

Lycanbeasts from infancy take 4 years to reach childhood and from there it takes 14 years to reach adulthood, at the age of 18 a Lycanbeast is considered a young adult. A Lycanbeast who reaches the age of 30 is considered an adult and at the age of 60 they are considered to be elderly.

Ecology and Habitats

Lycanbeast mostly live in temperate climates like lowlands, forest, hills, mountains and plains.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Lycanbeast are Carnivorous.

Biological Cycle

As time progresses Lycanbeasts age and grow until eventually their body reaches a point that they can no longer sustain themselves and die.

Behaviour

These lycanthropes are not just more dangerous and bigger than ordinary were-beasts, but they also aggressively aim to spread their affliction onto their victims. The only way of curing a Lycanbeast of this curse is by slaying the very beast that infected them.    But even after the death of the monster who infected the afflicted, the plague may persist. To successfully remove the affliction, a powerful priest has to pray to the god of wolves Boreas to remove curse during the first full moon night after the beast was slain. If the attempt fails, the lycanthrope remains curse until the next full moon when another attempt can be made.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Lowland Lycanbeasts hunt in packs and preferred human meat to all else. They laired in caves or secluded ruins. However, it is not unheard of for them to travel in humanoid forms and frequent inns. Most Lycanbeasts consider other lycanthropes and especially werewolves to be their enemies.   Mountain Lycanbeasts are the larger of the two and in the wolf form appear more like dire wolves, rather than a regular beast. They inhabit mountains and other more secluded locations. Mountain Lycanbeasts ae more often encountered as lone hunters than their kin.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Lycanbeast claws and fangs are either used as a blade of knives, daggers, short swords or other weapons that use a short blade.    Lycanbeast fur is used to make clothes, carpest or as part to make very durable armors.    However, the fur and head of a Lycanbeast are also very popular as a trophy among hunters, but it is considered repulsive, cruel and disgusting among many other species and also by some hunters.

Average Intelligence

Lycanbeasts in their human and hybrid form have the avarage intelligence of a human but can also be smarter because they are a diffrent race from Humans or are just highly gifted with intelligence.    Lycanbeasts in their fully lupine form, are less intelligent and are mainly driven by their instincts, especially during a full moon, however, more experienced Lycanbeasts are able to control these base instincts but this becomes quite harder during a full moon.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Lycanbeasts mostly use sight to observe the world around them but can use other senses such as hearing to do so as well.
