The party finally decides to rendezvous with
Sarowyn and perform their heist against
Davin the Dark.
September 28th - October 1st
The party and
Roswyn travel uneventfully along the roads toward their meeting spot.
Roswyn does get to learn a lot about
Kalarian: his travels through the elemental planes, his meeting with the goddess
Tunare, the reasoning behind his somewhat warped appearance.
October 2nd
In the middle of the day, the party finally reconvenes and
Roswyn delivers the news: they've been summoned to speak to the king about their encounter with
Mayong Mistmoore. And they have to be back in
Kelethin by the morning of October 5th. Despite this, Carlos decides that they still have time to help
Sarowyn steal from
Davin the Dark. They find the dead drop that
Sarowyn was using to leave them notes. One of his notes says that they are to ambush
Davin and his crew on October 6th. Seeing as how this is after they are to supposed to return,
Carlos decides that they should just heist the tree fort tonight. Remembering what
Sarowyn told them before, they ask
Kalarian to help them locate a large dead tree that could be used as a hideout.
Kalarian aids
Yarver in trying to cast Scrying, a spell that is currently beyond
Yarver's own abilities. Through some coaching and borrowed power,
Yarver is able to cast a minor version of it to scry on
Sarowyn. They see that he is in the tree fort and learn that
Davin is not even at the fort. Emboldened,
Ellie leads the party south of the road into the forest following what she hopes are
Sarowyn's tracks. As night falls,
Kalarian senses the tree that they are looking for and leads them to within several hundred feet of it. Under cover of night, the party begins planning their heist.
Arya sneaks close to the tree and finds a
Human walking around the tree, but not on guard duty. He stealthily punch him in the back of the head, knocking him unconscious. He then drags him back to the rest of the party where they tie him up and question him. Surprisingly, it only takes about 20 gold to get him to give them info about the fort. After some reconnaissance, the party executes their "plan." The party climbs up the tree toward the entrance, while
Yarver turns into a spider to scout out the area. He spots
Sarowyn and, using telepathy, he gets him to come out of the hideout and let them deal with it.
Sarowyn tells the party that it's believed that
Davin hold most of the gold in his bedroom somewhere. After seeing the number of bandits inside, the plan quickly morphs from "guns blazing" to "unseen."
Yarver manages to locate
Davin's room sometime later. He and
Ellie work closely to use vials of acid to melt a small hole in the side of the tree that they can fit through. Together, they manage to pack 3000 gold pieces into a bedroll and throw it out of the hideout.
On the way out, both
Yarver and
Carlos leave signs to taunt
Davin and his crew.
Carlos left a major illusion shouting "THE WET BANDITS", and
Yarver left a note saying it was one of
Davin's lackies that robbed him and fled to
Kaladim. They also free the bandit they had captured earlier. After completing the task,
Kalarian teleports
Sarowyn and the party to the Faydark Rings.
Roswyn hands
Sarowyn the money they promised him and he heads on his way to meet with his friends and family so that they can begin their journey to
Antonica. Before he departs,
Kalarian suggests
Yarver goes to the Garden of the Mother in
Felwithe to commune. Worn out, the party sleeps near the rings before heading back to
Kelethin.
