October 6th
They arrive in
Felwithe just before noon. The party is amazed by the elegant marble and gold city, but Briseis wastes no time escorting them directly to the king. As they enter the castle, they are greeted by King
Tearis Thex and his protector
Arrias Arcanum. They are once again questioned about their encounter with
Mayong Mistmoore. This time, however, they receive much information in return. King Thex is confident that the item that was taken is known as the
Ewer of Sul'Dae, an ancient item created by the first god of life
Anashti Sul that introduce undeath to Norrath. The king tells them the stories of
Anashti Sul and why she created the ewer, how
Mayong was turned into the first
Vampire by the god
Innoruuk using the
Ewer, and why
Mayong would have interest in the ewer.
The king is unsure specifically what
Mayong's plans are, but knows that he is very old and very patient, so it may be some time before they come to fruition. In any case, he sends
Arrias and
Briseis to investigate near Mistmoore Castle. He tasks the party with helping
Maesyn while he deals with
Mayong as he does not want to send them to their death.
Carlos expresses great interest in helping with
Mayong, so the king says that if anything comes up that he thinks the party could handle, they will be summoned.
The party sets out to find lodgings for their stay in
Felwithe and finds the Traveler's Home. It's proprietor,
Feraniel Freegraze, has never left
Felwithe and is completely enthralled by
Ellie's stories of her home. She graciously lets him borrow her journal and in exchange he provides them free rooms for as long as they'd like. The party relaxes and bathes for the first time in a long time. They spend the day exploring
Felwithe in all its grandeur.
Their first stop is the Emerald Armory, where they meet
Opal Leganyn.
Roswyn gives her the phase spider fangs she harvested in hopes that she can make something from them. She also requisitions as mithral net.
Carlos tries to use some bardic magic to get a discount, but it's not successful. Luckily she just embarrasses him a little instead of turning him in to the guards.
Their next stop is the Temple of the Mother, a massive complex dedicated to
Tunare, where they meet
Yeolarn Bronzeleaf the cleric guild master of
Felwithe.
Ellie is beyond elated to see something so grand dedicated to her goddess. After some fangirling from
Ellie, the party makes their way back across the city to
Tunare's Blessings in search of some trinkets and magic items. After a short conversation with
Leshea and
Tiatiah Mildbrook, several of the trinkets on display catch
Roswyn's eye. She purchases a jet black orb and a magical puzzle box.
Yarver also purchases a small lizard skull trinket out of curiosity. Throwing caution to the wind,
Roswyn attunes directly to her items, both of which aren't great. Her right eye is replaced by the black orb, now discovered to be the Eye of Night, but she has some darkvision now. The puzzle box is less dramatic, but she cannot get rid of it until she solves it.
While
Roswyn grapples with the consequences of her new items,
Yarver seeks to spend the day communing in the garden as Kalarian suggested. The party tries to help him be more "nature-like" but using various items from
Carlos's disguise kit and adding some sticks and foliage to his person. It works, but its necessity has yet to be seen. Curious to what this communing will do, the party disguises themselves and follow
Yarver "secretly" to his secluded section of the garden where he begins his several-hour-long meditation. Quickly bored,
Ellie heads to the inn to bake a pie for everyone using some harvested fruit. Equally respectful of
Yarver's privacy,
Roswyn heads back to the commercial district to a shop called Tovanik's Venom, known for its extensive collection of wines and spirits. Keeping her promise to the folks of
Fayadaroth, she purchases a crate of wine and requests that it be sent to the fort.
After several hours alone,
Yarver's meditation bears results: he awakens in the vast emptiness of space. A divine voice echoes something in his mind:
"Seek the tomb of the divine queen beneath the waves. Your destiny is in the stars." Upon returning back to reality, his hands are glowing and when he grabs his crystal ball focus, the glowing energy drains from his hands into the ball as it changes appearance. After processing these changes, he heads back to the inn to regroup with the party.
When the party sits down to relax for the evening, the see a young
Human woman bard, named
Sisle Songsung, with a crowd gathering around her. They all gather around as well to hear her stories. She tells the tale of
Elves before they came to
Faydwer from
Antonica. After her story,
Carlos greets her and introduces her to the party. They find out that she is also heading to
Kelethin for the Songweaver's Feast, but she is sad she will not make the journey in time. They offer her to join them in teleportation…when they find a teleporter.
In regards to their transportation back,
Carlos heads back to the castle to speak with the king and ask for a druid who can teleport them back to
Kelethin. Though he does not meet with the king,
Arrias Arcanum is there to receive his request and agrees to let the party come along. They are to meet outside the castle by noon. They spend the rest of the evening doing band practice with their illusory instruments in preparation for the festival.
