The Fangsleep

Overview

It is unclear if Topor is a deity in the way that other deities are. Torpor is the personfication of dark sleep and complacency. This may be the greatest power that the deity wields, having those doubt its existence.

Some texts refer to Torpor as a force that grew in power during the Era of Clouds and Arcanum, lulling the people of Vespala into a malaise and arrogance of their own power and supremacy

Some believe Torpor is a parasite, a malevolant force that feeds off the spiritual energy of those who they can while its victim is unaware. It can accomplish this across planes, but seemingly only when the victim is unaware.

For this reason followers of Demisoth, Tsukitae, and Zaera can be easy targets for Torpor, so fixated on threats to Novus from the Outer Wilds that they do not see the threats from within.

Some of the Gearforged believe that Torpor is the reason for the deep sleep that claims Gearforged deep within the Iron Ring and Earthen Ring. They (and others) take to calling Torpor the Fangsleep, for the life force threatening presence its malevolance can pose to all those unaware.
