Village Canteen

Mostly a food storage warehouse with the front half converted into a kitchen & dining area, the canteen is where anyone can get a meal and something to drink without having to pay. A common sight in towns throughout Calda, canteens are a reality of life when you live in an area that might not produce any food next year. In Calda, canteens are kept stocked from the provisions collected by the Crown through the tithing system.
Things work a bit differently in Ararholm. This is partially due to the distance from a Singhan Root terminal making resupply a dangerous task, but also due to some changes Ager made when setting up the town when they arrived. Ararholm does collect food and supplies from the outlying farms & homesteads, pretty much all of which ends up in the canteen stores.
However, there are some changes to the collection system that Ager made to try and fit this traditional part of Caldanian town life into the reality of living past the frontier:

• Any hunter living under the ageis of Ararholm will tithe a portion of any successful hunt to the canteen
• Homestead families are allowed to take one weeks worth of provisions, this must be witnessed by a member of the council
• Unauthorized usage of supplies will result in banishment
• Only food & water is covered by this system, other resources ( synth, metal, wood, etc ) is exclueded

These changes were made to attempt to make the system a bit more fair, while also trying to reign in "unchairitable urges".
Since the Adventurer's Camp started growing, Sheriff Mannes added the canteen to the list of spots watched over by the town guard at night.
