Corinne Nichols
Corinne Nichols (a.k.a. The Desert Wolf)
Corinne Nichols, better known as the Desert Wolf, is a Werecoyote assassin, and the biological mother of Malia Tate.
She had a brief relationship with Peter Hale in 1994, after he sought her out as part of his quest to restore the Hale Pack's shapeshifting ability. Since werecoyotes are all capable of full-shifts, he hoped that combining the bloodlines would reintroduce the ability into the family.
She did not originally intend to keep the child, but was persuaded by Talia Hale not to terminate the pregnancy. However, after the birth she lost a signifiant portion of her abilities, including full-shifting.
She gave the child up for adoption, but later became convinced that killing Malia would restore her powers. As a result, she attempted to shoot Malia, leading to the car crash which killed Malia's adoptive mother and sister, and trapping Malia as a coyote for several years.
