Peter Hale

Peter Aristeaus Hale

Peter Hale is a former Alpha of the Hale Pack and uncle of Derek Hale.

It was clear from an early age that Peter was not developing normally emotionally and socially, and as an adult he would be diagnosed with anti-social personality disorder. He was unable to connect with his parents or other relatives, and made no lasting friendships once he started school.

The only strong emotional bond he formed was with his older sister Talia Hale. The two were inseperable from an early age, and their close bond was often likened more to twins than normal siblings.

As he aged, his social skills improved, but he used them to manipulate people into doing what he wanted, rather than to form genuine relationships, feeling that he didn't need any other connections than Talia.

He was fascinated from a young age with the history of his pack, especially their role as Guardians, and the full-shift power they had lost when The California Nemeton was cut down.

As part of this fascination, he deliberately sought out and began a relationship with Corinne Nichols, hoping their child would be a werewolf with a Werecoyote's full shift ability. However, when Malia Tate was born a werecoyote, he expressed disinterest in the baby, and did not stop Talia from putting her up for adoption.

In 2003, he manipulated Derek Hale into asking Ennis to bite his girlfriend Paige Krasikeva, knowing that the bite would not take. As he had hoped, when the bite didn't take, Derek took Paige to the Nemeton, where she died, her sacrifice giving power back to the Nemeton. However, realising what he had done, Talia took the memory of the Nemeton's location from him, to prevent any further sacrifices.

He was the only survivor of the Hale House Fire the following year, but was very severely injured, and spent six years in a coma as a result. When he finally healed enough to awaken, he concocted a plan to take revenge on the perpetrator Kate Argent and her accomplices.

With the help of Nurse Jennifer, he lured his neice Laura Hale to Beacon Hills and killed her, taking the Alpha power for him. He used this power to turn Scott McCall, and eventually recruited Derek to his side by lying about the circumstances of Laura's death.

He was eventually killed by Derek, after he learned the truth about Laura's death. However, he had put a contingency in place for this happening when he placed a portion of his own soul inside Lydia Martin.

Using his connection, he was able to force her into ressurecting his body and ultimately restoring him to life, though the Hale Alpha power was sacrificed to Kybele as part of the ritual.

After his return to life, he was instrumental in saving Jackson Whittemore from trapped as a Kanima.

He co-operated with Jennifer Blake during The Darach Murders, due to their shared goal of restoring the California Nemeton, and manipulated Malia into assisting him. However, once the restoration was complete, Peter was the one to kill Jennifer, to prevent her from drawing on its power.
