Kaori Hanzō was the son of the infamous Kaori Mochizuki, a woman thought to be dead after being chased away by her ex-husband's brothers, Osada and Fujita. She washed up on the shores of a small fishing town miles away from the Tento Clan's reach. She was found by a spear-fisherman, a man named Sojuro Kentarō who was shocked to find such a beautiful woman interested in a lowly humble farmer like himself.
Mochizuki loved him so much, far greater than she could ever love Yagi, and gave him a merciful death via poison. Hanzō was the only thing Mochizuki had left of Kentarō. Hanzō was primarily raised by his mother who treated him more like a tool to get revenge on the Tento Clan than her own son. But Hanzō, desperate for her love and approval, pushed himself to new heights, always surpassing his own limits.
Education
Hanzō received most of his combat training from his mother Mochizuki in his youth, his training was completed by an unknown warrior from planet Neptune who owed Mochizuki a favor.
Mental Trauma
Hanzō was desperate for the love of a mother that did not see him as her loving son. Mochizuki was only interested in raising a strong and capable Samurai that could get her back into the Tento Clan. But this did not stop Hanzō from striving for her affection.

Motivation
The Tento Clan killed his mother's ex-husband and tried to kill her as well, or at least that is what Hanzō believes. But the greatest lie Hanzō believes is that they killed his father, Sojuro Kentarō. He is driven by the need to avenge both his mother and father, to see the Tento Clan pay for what they did to his life. Before Kentarō died, Hanzō's life was easy and peaceful, just living a quiet life by the sea with his parents, he didn't need to worry about training, Sorcery, or the Tento Clan. In his eyes, they took everything away from him, and he will repay the favor in kind.
Vices & Personality flaws
Hanzō's blind loyalty to his mother and her cause blinded him to many obvious truths, things that he likely already knew but suppressed, still seeking to win his mother's love and affection.

Relationship Reasoning
When Chijimatsu found out about Hanzō, she immediately tried to save or befriend him, so knew how abusive her mother was and could not imagine what he went through. Hanzō was raised from childhood not trust or like anyone of the Tento Clan and upon meeting Chijimatsu was not interested in making friends. But, in time, they both overcame their problems and built a strong sibling bond together.
Wealth & Financial state
Hanzō is not very wealthy at all, he turned down the offer to join the Kaori Clan and instead decided to remain in his hometown where he grew up with his father. He works as a fisherman, it doesn't pay much, but its honest work and it reminds him of his old life with his family when he was younger.
