Kethel City
Sitting in the middle of a channel, Kethel city is the large capital of Kethel Hold. It has a population of around 25,000 people. It hold many of the nobles of the hold, and seats the king, who is currently King Ramos (Ramos Than).
The city lies just beyond a massive docking bay. The castle sits just behind the docks for military and private vessels, and sitting next to it is one of the largest commercial docks in the world. the waters are calm, sitting inside a large channel, and ships are able to comfortably pass each other in front of the docks and through the entire channel. 40+ ships are able to be docked at one time without any congestion. The docks start at the city as deep stone walkways. at the edge of the stone, dotted frequently among the docks are stations managing the commercial traffic. at the foot of the docks, ramps leading up to the city. the ramps are 30 feet wide with textured stone leading up 30 feet to the base of the city. Next to one of the ramps, walled completely in stone and partially under some of the buildings up in the city, is the main office for the commercial dock. after stone, the docks stretch out farther into the water as sturdy wood material. a crane is fixed to the dock no more than 50 feet from each other in any direction, which gets supplies from the ship on to wagons that can carry it in to the city. The dock walkways sit 30 feet wide right near the city, getting thinner but never less than 15 feet wide.
The castle sits at the north, right up at the water. It towers over the water hundreds of feet. Behind the castle lies the large nobles district where the various nobles of the hold have anything from respectable house, to mini castles in themselves. South of the castle lies the military district. On the other side of the road lies the large courtyard where much trading takes place. Lining the courtyard in storefront of many kinds. Many folk live in the same building of their business. northwest more shops continue on the winding roads, intermixed with other middle class dwellings. The Temple district is almost in the middle class district but it is walled and gated. The gates stay open during the day and although closed at night, they are still accessible to those that approach the guards. Professions and guild lie south of the temple district; large complexes with the ability to house and train hundreds. Shops and residence goes south until reaching the shipyard. a huge affair, dozens of ships can be seeing in the midst of construction and large mechanical cranes can be seen holding pallets of supplies or large sections of hull. South of the shipyard is much of the lower district or the slums.
Geography
The waterline is mostly consisting of cliffs and steep ridges. The dock cuts into the cliff. The shipyard and the lower class district is one of the few locations that meet the waterline with any ease.
