Orofi-el-Astrânos
Orofi-el-Astrânos is a mesa in remote Filia that is home to Astrydiâlos the Greatmother, the ancient brass dragon guardian of the high deserts. Here, she is said to incubate the eggs of many of the dragons of the Golden Guard.
Geography
Orofi-el-Astrânos is located in a relatively flat stretch of southeastern Filia and rises nearly seven thousand feet above the surrounding land, putting its uppermost plane roughly nine thousand feet above sea level. Zodan Falls, the tallest waterfall in the Aquatic Kingdoms, flows from a salt lake atop its eastern edge. The coves beneath this waterfall are believed to be where Astrydiâlos keeps her hoard and incubates her broods of eggs.
Counterintuitively, the relatively exposed open desert around the isolated mesa is precisely what makes it an effective and secure nest for young metallic dragons. The steep, flat sides of Orofi-el-Astrânos are nearly unscalable by non-magical means, preventing most humanoids from accessing it. The few who brave the harsh desert and attempt to scale the cliffs without clear permission of Astrydiâlos and her followers are quickly stopped by the monks of the Sita'rautaan Sentry. However, since the mountains of the region sit lower than those of most of Filia and are devoid of any tall vegetation, any chromatic dragons who might raid the Golden Guard's nest have little chance of escaping detection.
