Earth-Moon LaGrange Points
There are five points of gravitational equilibrium between the Earth and the Moon
Lagrange Point 1: In between the Earth and Moon
Lagrange Point 2: On the opposing side of the Moon from Earth
Lagrange Point 3: On the opposing side of the Earth from the Moon
Lagrange Point 4/5: At a point that forms an equilateral triangle between the Earth and the Moon
These locations have been deemed ideal for permanent orbital colonization due to their stability. Only Lagrange Point's 4 and 5 are truly stable, and are therefore the location chosen for most orbital colonies. The other three Lagrange points are less stable and require more "station-keeping", but are located at strategic points between the Earth and the Moon, resulting in a buildup of various service facilities and transfer stations. All five Lagrange points are of great strategic significance, and are frequently the targets of military action during any interplanetary conflict.
