Digitiser

"Of course, no person uses digitisers these days, not really. It was a sign to me of how out of date and out of touch this individual was that they were still referring to them.   Clearly, things like the wristassist were yet to reach this corner of the Territories. I have been told by my editor that I should be impressed that they had digitisers, but really! How is that impressive?"

Utility

A Digitiser is a machine which traditionally provides data pulled from data centers. It was originally designed to be worked by two people who cuold pull requested data from te servers and then send it on to wherever it needed to be used.   However, these days the pulling and sending has been automated, and a vast number of these digitisers sit in on-planet and off-planet server famrs to allow the data to be more easily pulled, shared and received. They are bought and owned by organisations and companies to make accessing their own data easier.   Those which are thrown away or sold having been replaced can often be bought by scrappers, or in systems outside of P'Ache Solar System.

Social Impact

The digitiser is very much a part of the Peacekeeper society. So much so that there are several common sayings about it which are part of their every day parlance.
"Don't blame the digitiser for the output."
— To not hold someone responsible for something that isn't their fault
