Krona is a reporter for the Undergazette, who has been effectively running the opperation ever since The Editor was murdered (he believes accidentally) by his adopted daughter Lindie.

Krona was born to Jackdaw and Trink Tailfeather, a pair of minor gangsters in the lower slums who were murdered in a mob hit when Krona was still a fletchling. After his parents died, Krona was sent to an orphanage operated by the Church of the Beggar Man.

Krona met his future wife, Awkla while they were both children in the orphanage. When they were about thirteen years old, they became sweethearts, sharing their first kiss in the greenhouse behind the schoolhouse while hiding from the head tutor to avoid the Trickmas services. Krona remembers that Awkla was wearing red ribbons in her feathers, which she had stolen from the Trickmas decorations.Adulthood
Krona and Awkla got married after leaving the orphanage, but Krona's intense focus on his duties with the Undergazette led to the breakdown of their marriage and they eventually divorced. Despite the failed marriage, Krona holds Awkla in high esteem. She has remarried and is successfully running a seamstress business while raising two children with her new husband. Krona was dispatched to the merchantile district to interview Jorma Asklepa, a vishkanyan apothecary who had alerted the Undergazette that she had valuable information for them. Upon arriving, Krona discovered that the shop had been vandalised, and that Jorma and her baby son, Basilisk, had been killed. The only survivor was Jorma's five-year-old daughter, Lindwyrm (who Krona called "Lindie"), who was traumatised by the loss of her family and affected by the poisonous gas that had been used in the attack.
