Tal Mapre
Tal Mapre was born and raised in Edaris Pelu. He was a student at the University when The Great War started and he was conscripted and sent off to help invade Sew Bli during the first battles of the war. Just as the Thieian military took the island back and drove the Nagri forces out, Tal deserted and once taken prisoner by Thieian forces he defected from Nagri.
For the first few months, Tal was held in a safe house outside Dot Clyr, to keep him safe from other Nagri POWs who were loyal to their Emperor. While in the safe house he painted and wrote novels, activities he continued to do when he was free and lived in Thieis. His most famous novel is "The Riots of Edaris Pelu," about a day when there were a lot of civil unrest in the capital, just before the war.
During his time in the safe house Tal wrote a letter to his favorite composer, Pror Cuas, who also was a Nagri in exile. The letter was basically fan mail, but Pror responded and it developed into a correspondence between the two, and they were even able to meet once before Pror was assassinated on the steps of the opera house, by a Nagri operative.
Tal becama a patron of the opera, and also active in the Foundation that was named for Pror Cuas, and which was dedicated to helping rent boys get out of their life of prostitution.

A bit skinny.
Physical quirks
Left handed, which was considered a problem in Nagri when Tal grew up there. People got shot by the Security Police in broad daylight, in the street, if caught being left handed. Trained himself from an early age to use his right hand as much as possible.
Apparel & Accessories
As a teenager in Edaris Pelu he'd wear a white button down shirt, black trousers and sneakers, the unofficial school uniform of students at the university. Like many of his peers he'd tend to keep the top buttons of the shirt undone, probably a few more than actually looks good.

Accomplishments & Achievements
Was a graffiti artist in his teens, in Edaris Pelu and only got caught once, which nearly cost him his life. After defecting to Thieis he continued to paint, but more legal methods, painting on canvas and sometimes walls, but only when he was commissioned to do so, and then favored al fresco over spray paint. He was also a novelist who wrote over a dozen novels, mostly science fiction, with LGBTQ+ characters. He occasionally combined the interests and made a handful of graphic novels.
Mental Trauma
Saw several friends get killed by the Security Police in Edaris Pelu, and was nearly killed by them himself once, at age 17.
