Personal history

Kataledaris is the only mortal child of Artiana Aphrona thus far and she's treasured her since the day she was born. While she was to follow in Grendishi Amall's footsteps and become a healer within the village of Nevarre, Kataledaris didn't fancy that sort of skill. She loved to explore and hunt, so naturally, she was recruited to be a Guardian. Guardians were expertly skilled rangers in the tribe and their job took them all over the valley. It was the perfect role for Kataledaris and she rose through the ranks quickly.
The exciting life of a wanderer wouldn't last though as years later, she was captured and imprisoned by Ariamis Madan. She was the sole focus of his experiments for a little over a decade, subjected to all sorts of horrific crimes in the name of science. Ariamis was on a desperate quest to unite the dead with the living for his own sick perversions and what followed broke Kataledaris on a mental and physical level. The last experiment performed on her was considered a success, but Ariamis lost her in the process. The chemicals had torn her internal organs asunder and Kataledaris joined the legion of mindless undead that guarded the entrance to his lair. Grendishi searched for her for four decades, always believing that she'd her daughter again someday.
After Zakina Kociak-Falenmir had entered Ariamis' lair to figure out what was going on, she noticed Kataledaris in the crowd of undead. Her plans to find something that would work against the lich were dropped in favor of leading Kataledaris out of the caverns despite Grendishi's protests. The woman was thankful that her daughter would be laid to rest properly, but she was upset over the possibility of having to bury both her and Zakina. Lost in her grief, Grendishi couldn't bring herself to put her daughter out of her misery. When she turned away, Zakina put Kataledaris down and helped bury her far from Ariamis' prying eyes. Upon Ariamis' death and the destruction of his phylactery, Kataledaris crawled out of her grave as an intelligent undead.
She was a part of a contingency spell on his part, but only a shard of his soul was transferred to her body. Her memories were missing and she was lost, left to wander aimlessly until Jordeira Ferus found her. He took her along with him on his travels, caring for her and helping her regain most of her memories. The shard of Ariamis that was locked inside of her remained hidden until the founding of the The Grayveils. Morticia was able to detect its presence and with Lucky's help, they were able to quarantine the soul shard to keep it from growing and taking control of Kataledaris. Her experience and skills from her days as a guardian made her the perfect sentinel.
Kataledaris is the captain of the small squadron of guards that patrol Necropolis day and night. While she's friendly and eccentric, the years of abuse have left her mind warped. Every once in awhile, a darker side of her will come out, which makes her come across as creepy and obsessive. After quarantining Ariamis' soul, these instances aren't as frequent these days. She has a very obvious crush on Zakina and is an occasional lover of Lucky Kociak and Jordeira.
