Standard Yssian (ɪsiɑn*)
Standardized with the consolidation of Ys into the Tzolgarin Kingdom in the first century of the Qh'énnish Ascension. The Yssian culture has always prized academic study and literacy, the Tzolgarin Dynasts were tyrants who, raised in that environment, also held those values and lead to the formalization of the standard dialect of Ys. Whereas numerous disparate Yssian dialects and related languages existed throughout the realm, the Tzolgarin Dynasts enforced Standard Yssian as the language of the royal court, the legal system, and the language of academic instruction.
*Yssian is pronounced emically, /ɪsiɑn/; in Qh'énnish and Raachern, the vowel-Y is rendered /ʲɪ/ hence /ʲɪsiɑn/.
