The Werewolves of PÈRYL
Lycanthropy, the ancient and seemingly widely dispersed curse, afflicts the creatures of the realms as it does most worlds. Schqhènnite scholars have postulated that PÈRYL is one of the first few worlds to become infected with the curse. Whilst not the original, through the folds of the Rift and its travelers, an early iteration of lycanthropy was brought to the known realms. However, it is believed that the Gruthe—the Middle Realm—houses some of the most powerful lycanthropes. The Six Crows and the Svor maintain that the original lycanthrope lives on the continent, imprisoned until the end of days.
Lycanthropy takes numerous forms, although the lupine form—as the root lycan implies—is the most common. Werecreatures such as werebears, weretigers, and others exist.
The werewolves of PÈRYL are often secretive creatures, but some operate clandestinely, blurring the lines between bestiality and mere underwold criminality. The Scions of the Six are a criminal empire composed of werewolves based out of the nation of Hœm. Although in recent years, there have been purges that have decimated their numbers and driven the Scions, and werewolves in general, further underground.
