The Isle of Valsaga

Valsaga is a temperate and pleasant land, mostly. Since the events of Ethergenesis, the The Ether Spindle has rendered the wild spaces near the centre of the island dangerous. The population includes members from all the major races- Elves are concentrated in Ly'veenir, Gnomes and Halflings in Imya and Humans in Circaselda, although these are trends rather than rules. There are also a great deal of caves that run through the island and it's geology favours the subterranean races well.

Geography

The whole of the Eastern edge of the island forms a large bay dotted with human fishing villages and trading towns. The land here is low and flat between the two rocky hill ranges in the far northeast and southeast that define the bay.   Towards the centre of the island the ground slowly slopes up into rolling hills partly covered with forests save for a few clearings.   Visible through The Myst almost everywhere on the island is the The Ether Spindle, the area was once a built-up town so the trees have been stripped back for around 50 miles. The natural forces unleashed by Ethergenesis tore up space in a strange way and now the geography inside of 10 miles from the Ether Spindle is variable over time.   The North of the island rises to a huge lava plate over a sedimentary limestone, although there is only one remaining active volcano in the Northwest- Eldarcarak. This area is filled with natural caves as well as ones carved out by the inhabitants.   To the South and West, the forest thickens into dense woodlands with some of the oldest trees on the island with very few clearings. There are routes cut through, tended by the Elves, to allow access to the Elven cities.
