Esmae of the Flowers
Carries a basket of flowers
Initially seemed to talk only in riddles and prose, as she is one of The Barmys.
When The Nameless One first met her one of his Tattoos flashed.
She joined in him, and together they met with the other members of the Ka-Tet Arvid, Dak'kon, and Eilana.
A young man, Mar, gave Esmae a sulphurous smelling box, with fumes coming from under its lid and runes on its surface. When she placed it in her basket and all of the flowers wilted and died. It was cursed, and likely contained a trapped powerful evil.
In a section of The Hive, called The Gatehouse, Esmae meets a creature she feels was an old friend by the name of Gregory. He was a much loved Gargoyle who cared for and delighted the local scamps.
At the Alley Temple (Session 7) Esmae had an unsettling experience when the priest took the cursed box from her. She felt transported to a verdant world, inhabited by halflings like her, that she felt was her home world, Athas. She then witnessed the destruction of that world, and in her heart she somehow felt it was her fault.
She also had a vision of the temple of the last God of the land, where she felt a distant voice in her mind and a hand over her hand, with the feeling that this was the hand of the god, Aoska.
During one reunion with Gregory, Esmae started to levitate, much like a Dabus. Most curious, the others thought !!
When the Ka-Tet met Fell, a Dabus like tattoist in Sigil, she communicated with him without speech.
Later she would say only that it was mainly snippets of dreams over a long life being born and reborn on a distant world known as Athas –so distant that it was sealed from the Gods in a tragedy that occurred during the Dawn Wars.
It was from him that she learned about the Mask of the Shaper
In a conversation with Dhall, when the party returned to the Mortuary to learn of Xachariah, Dhall asks her:
“Hail, Scorched One. Do you feel the great void growing in your heart, where what was once a garden has become a lifeless desert? Have you found the seeds of your dreams that you planted long ago, to await the return of the stars and the waters of the heavens?”
